Some Big News

Hey everyone, I have some personal news to share.

I’ll be moving in a few months, and while it’s an exciting new chapter, the timing makes it bittersweet. Just as River Reeds is coming to life, I find myself facing an unexpected transition. It’s been a challenge to navigate—trying to build something meaningful while knowing change is on the horizon—but I’m grateful for every moment of this journey.

This group has been a long-standing conversation among many of us for over a decade, and I’m thrilled to see it finally come to life. Music has brought us together in so many ways, and I’m happy to see our clarinet community create something just for us.

Until my move, I’m all in. My goal is to give River Reeds the strongest foundation possible. We have a beautiful logo and color scheme, thanks to Jake Stephenson, an amazing colleague and friend (check out that header up top! See the web site for more). I plan to keep improving and enhancing our web site so that it becomes a helpful resource for clarinetists in our area.

Current and upcoming features include:

  • Choir repertoire for download
  • Meeting notes
  • a list of repair shops and individuals
  • Local performing groups with playing opportunities
  • personalized profiles where you can showcase your skills and services
  • An online forum for discussions

Quick note: Our March 17 get-together is still on! I have news about two possible gigs—one in May and one in June. We can discuss their feasibility and what the future may hold for us.

I believe River Reeds has the potential to keep growing and thriving. My hope is that this excitement and interest continue to build, helping our community flourish—shaped by the passion, talent, and friendship that brought it to life.

With all the ties I have here, I’ll be back to visit and would love to stay involved with River Reeds—whether that’s playing when I’m in town or helping out from afar. This group is something special, and I truly believe the music—and our sense of community—can and should keep thriving.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. I’m so grateful for each of you.

Sharon
